Diwali 2026 ads: a 4-week Meta and Google plan for lead-generation businesses

Diwali 2026 is on 8 November. A week-by-week Meta and Google ads plan for travel agencies, real estate, coaching institutes and clinics, plus budgets, festive cost estimates and a checklist.

Diwali 2026 ads: a 4-week Meta and Google plan for lead-generation businesses

Short answer: Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday 6 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November. That leaves four weeks. Spend the first two building warm audiences, fast WhatsApp replies and a clear offer. Spend the last two running that offer while costs climb. Industry estimates put ad costs 30–60% higher in the final week, so judge every campaign on cost per booking, not cost per lead.

Most Diwali ad guides are written for e-commerce. This one is for businesses that sell through enquiries: travel agencies, real estate, coaching institutes and clinics. Last updated: 10 October 2026.

When is Diwali 2026, and why does the timing matter for ads?

Day Date What it means for lead campaigns
Dhanteras Fri, 6 Nov 2026 The traditional day for buying property, gold and vehicles; peak intent for real estate
Choti Diwali Sat, 7 Nov 2026 Offices close; reply speed drops unless WhatsApp is automated
Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) Sun, 8 Nov 2026 Lowest response day; good for brand and greetings posts, poor for lead forms
Govardhan Puja Mon, 9 Nov 2026 Holiday in many states
Bhai Dooj Tue, 10 Nov 2026 The festive week ends; enquiries for winter trips and new batches start rising

Dates per Dekho Panchang. Puja timings vary by city.

Ad auctions get crowded from late October as e-commerce, gold, auto and fashion brands push budgets. Lead-generation businesses compete for the same people, so you pay more for the same reach. Planning guides for Diwali 2026 put the rise at roughly 30–60% in the last week (The Pixel Mark, Growww Tech). Treat these as estimates rather than guarantees. Your own account history is the best guide.

The 4-week Diwali 2026 plan

Week 1 (10–16 October): get the system ready

  • Fix tracking first. Check that your Meta Pixel, Conversions API and Google Ads conversions fire on form submissions and WhatsApp clicks.
  • Set up instant WhatsApp replies. Festival enquiries go to whoever replies first, and your team will be at home for several days. Automate the first reply and the qualifying questions. See our WhatsApp follow-up playbook.
  • Give every lead a stage in a CRM or a shared sheet: new, contacted, interested, booked, lost. Without stages you can’t calculate cost per booking.
  • Start warming audiences. Run short Reels and video ads at low budgets now. Video viewers become the cheapest retargeting audience in week 4.

Week 2 (17–23 October): launch the offer

  • Make the offer specific and dated. “Goa 4N/5D from ₹18,999, book by 10 November” beats “Diwali special packages”. Specific offers do better than clever targeting. We saw this in our pilgrimage campaign case study.
  • Test 3–4 creatives per campaign: one price-led, one testimonial, one festive and one urgency (“only 6 rooms left”).
  • Add qualifying questions to Meta Instant Forms (dates, budget, city). The leads cost a little more but junk drops sharply. Our Facebook lead ads guide shows how.
  • On Google, add festive keywords to existing search campaigns (“diwali holiday packages”, “dhanteras flat booking offer”) rather than starting new campaigns from scratch.

Week 3 (24–30 October): scale what works, carefully

  • Raise budgets by about 20% every two to three days on ad sets with good cost per booking. Doubling overnight usually sends costs up sharply.
  • Switch off losers fast. If an ad set has spent three times your target cost per booking without a single qualified lead, pause it.
  • Add negative keywords on Google (“free”, “job”, “wallpaper”, “rangoli design”) to stop festive search noise eating your budget.
  • Retarget week-1 video viewers and website visitors with the offer. They’re warmer and usually cheaper.

Week 4 (31 October–10 November): peak week

  • Front-load spend before Dhanteras. For most lead businesses, 31 October to 6 November is the window that converts. Spend on Diwali day itself often brings fewer leads for more money.
  • Put a cap on spend. Set campaign spending limits so a costly auction can’t empty your monthly budget in three days.
  • Reply within minutes, even on holidays. Automate the first reply and run a holiday roster for calls. A lead that waits overnight during Diwali usually books somewhere else.
  • Run Click-to-WhatsApp ads. Conversations that start from them get a 72-hour free messaging window, which matters now that WhatsApp charges for replies.

After Diwali (11–15 November): collect the bookings

  • Follow up every lead that didn’t book with a single helpful message, such as a new date, a smaller package or a site-visit slot.
  • Launch post-Diwali campaigns for winter travel, December holidays and new batches while competitors pause.
  • Report cost per booking for the season and keep the numbers. They are your benchmark for Diwali 2027.

Diwali ad ideas by industry

Industry What people are buying Offer that works Measure
Travel agencies Diwali-break trips, winter holidays, December family tours, pilgrimages Dated packages with a “book by Bhai Dooj” price; free itinerary PDF on WhatsApp Cost per booked trip
Real estate Dhanteras and Diwali bookings, which many families consider auspicious Festive booking-amount offers, site visits that week, “price sheet on WhatsApp” Cost per site visit
Coaching and education Few new enrolments during the festival itself; strong demand straight after Early-bird fee for post-Diwali or crash-course batches, free demo class Cost per enrolment
Clinics and wellness Festive health check-ups, skin and dental appointments before family events Pre-Diwali check-up packages, WhatsApp booking Cost per appointment

Why your Meta results may look worse this Diwali

In March 2026 Meta changed how it counts conversions. Click-through attribution now counts only link clicks. Conversions after a like, share, save or short video view have moved into a separate “engage-through” category (Jon Loomer’s explainer). Billing hasn’t changed, but Ads Manager may show fewer click-through conversions than last Diwali for the same real results.

That is why the plan above leans on your CRM. Compare bookings in your own records with last year, not Ads Manager’s numbers. Our guide to cost per lead vs cost per booking includes a simple weekly sheet.

How much budget should you plan for Diwali?

Start from your normal monthly cost per lead (see our Meta ads cost in India benchmarks: ₹7 to ₹83 per lead across our campaigns). Then:

  1. Assume leads cost 30–60% more in the last week and 10–20% more from late October.
  2. Work back from bookings. If you need 20 bookings, 1 in 10 leads books, and a lead normally costs ₹60, plan for 200 leads at about ₹80 average, or roughly ₹16,000 plus 18% GST.
  3. Keep 20% of the budget for the winning ad set in week 4 instead of spreading it evenly.

Frequently asked questions

When is Diwali 2026?

Diwali 2026 is on Sunday, 8 November. Dhanteras is on Friday 6 November, Choti Diwali on Saturday 7 November, Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November.

When should I start Diwali ads in 2026?

Start warming audiences with low-budget video in the first half of October, launch your offer by around 20 October, and spend most heavily between 31 October and Dhanteras (6 November). Lead forms usually perform poorly on Diwali day itself.

How much more do Facebook and Instagram ads cost during Diwali?

Industry planning guides estimate costs 30–60% higher in the final week before Diwali, and somewhat higher from late October. The exact rise depends on your industry and audience, so compare with your own account history.

Should lead-generation businesses use Performance Max or Advantage+ for Diwali?

Use them carefully. Automated campaigns can find cheap leads quickly, but at festive volumes they often bring more low-quality enquiries. Pair them with qualifying questions and judge them on bookings in your CRM, not on the leads the platform reports.

Why are my Meta conversions lower than last Diwali?

Partly because Meta changed attribution in March 2026: click-through conversions now count only link clicks, and other engagements are reported separately as engage-through. Check real bookings in your CRM before deciding a campaign got worse.
